Peebles Atlantic Development Corporation is the largest African American-owned hotel and real-estate development firm in the United States. With a national reputation, a successful history of public-private partnerships, and more than a quarter of a billion dollars' worth of high-profile hotel developments, it will continue to have a major impact in the hotel industry. Among the company's current local projects are the Broward County Convention Center Headquarters Hotel in Fort Lauderdale and the Bath Club Resort in Miami Beach, both scheduled to open in 2001, and the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort in Miami Beach, scheduled to open next year.
R. Donahue Peebles, president and CEO, founded the Peebles Atlantic Development Corporation. A popular speaker, Mr. Peebles has 20 years of experience in the real-estate field and takes pride in supporting outstanding young African-American students as they pursue educations in the exciting and growing field of Hospitality Management.
"We are pleased to be able to give back to our community in a significant and meaningful way," Mr. Peebles said recently. "The doors of economic opportunity for minorities are opening, and more diversity will be the hospitality industry's future. It is critical that we have qualified professionals who can take advantage of these opportunities. The best way to ensure this is by providing education through such noteworthy programs as those offered by FIU's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management."
