Angostura Scholarship Fund

The Angostura Scholarships have been established to provide financial support to students in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

1. Undergraduate degree-seeking majors in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management with junior or senior standing; or degree-seeking graduate students.

2. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 = A scale).

3. All applicants must submit the following documents as part of the application process:

1. One page essay on why the applicant selected the hospitality industry as a career (must be typed/double spaced).

2. Recommendation from a faculty member or employer.

3. Current resume.

Selection Procedure

The Angostura Scholarship will be awarded each year to a student selected by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Scholarship Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will be comprised of members of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management's administration and faculty, and an Angostura representative will be invited to participate as a voting member of the Selection Committee.

Applications will be reviewed by the School each spring and awards will be made for the following fall. The School may make replacement awards at any time during the academic year if any recipient does not enroll, fails to meet the criteria listed above, or is otherwise unable to accept the award.

Select Angostura representatives will have access to review the applications of all students who are eligible for the Angostura Scholarship.

If an appropriate candidate is not identified by the published deadline, the scholarship will be re-advertised and will be awarded at the earliest possible date when a candidate is found.

Amount of Awards

Awards will be made from the available balance of the annual spendable earnings of the fund.
