Biography

Throughout her career in the food and wine/hospitality industry, Athena Yannitsas held leadership positions in outstanding organizations, including as Public Relations Attache for Chef Alain Ducasse at the Hotel de Paris (Monaco), Special Projects Director at The Biltmore Hotel (Coral Gables), Marketing Manager for Wines from Spain (Miami), Assistant Editor of The Wine News magazine (Miami), Director of WineQuest (Miami) and Curator of Public Programs at the American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts-COPIA (Napa Valley). She also taught wine education classes at Miami-Dade College and published wine articles in Decanter, The Economist, Exito!, South Florida Gourmet, South Florida Times, Wine News and Hispanic Magazine.

Ms. Yannitsas has a B.A. in Economics & International Relations from Boston University. She completed additional studies at the Universite de Paris-Sorbonne, UC-Davis, UC-Berkeley and the Center for International Trade Development in San Francisco. Ms. Yannitsas is fluent in English, Spanish, Greek and French.

In addition to her current position as Executive Director of Global Gig (a marketing and business development firm specializing in the wine and hotel industry), Ms. Yannitsas is a member of the Palm Beach County Small Business Assistance Advisory Committee, appointed by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
