Introduction to Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management
HFT 3000 is an introductory course to Hospitality & Tourism Management with Emphasis placed upon the many segments of this multi-faceted billion-dollar industry. The course offers an overview of the industry, its history, problems, and general operating procedures. As professional economist continue to predict that the hospitality industry will persist in this explosion well into the present millennium, this suggests that the career opportunities for men and women who choose to become hospitality & tourism professionals and who prepare themselves, will greatly benefit in this industry's future.

HFT 3210
Fundamentals of Management in the Hospitality Industry
In this course, students will analyze and integrate the various disciplines of management in the hospitality industry—setting strategy, managing operations, marshaling resources, creating a positive work environment, building an organization, and developing people.

Biography

Mr. He gained his Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Soochow University, China. To pursue a career change after working as a marketing assistant for one year, Mr. He went to the United Kingdom afterwards and received his first master degree in Hospitality Management from Leeds Metropolitan University. He completed his second master degree in Information Systems from University of Leeds, UK. Mr. He also holds an Executive Master of Hospitality Management from Florida International University, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Currently, he is an adjunct lecturer, research assistant and doctoral student at Florida International University, School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and Chapman School of Business Administration.

During the period of time he stayed in England, Mr. He ever worked in the properties of two international hotels chains—Hilton International and Peel Hotel Group for about two and a half years. He also served as the duty manager in Tiens Hotel, TianJin, China. As a young adjunct lecturer, Mr. He is trying to provide students courses combining with his intensive working experience in the hotel industry and up-to-date knowledge with respect to the contemporary development of the hospitality world.

Mr. He currently engages in research on numerous topics in relation to strategic management in service organizations, international hospitality business, and global knowledge management and diffusion for service firms.
