HFT 3503
Hospitality Marketing Strategy
This course deals with the application of marketing concepts to the hospitality and tourism industry. The course covers important marketing principles and concepts that are supported by research and evidence from economics, the behavioral sciences, and modern management theory, yet takes a practical, marketing management approach.

HFT 3210
Fundamentals of Management in the Hospitality Industry

A basic course in general management concepts and practices to acquaint the student with theories and principles of organization, the tools of managerial decision-making, and the management process with particular reference to the hospitality industry. Case studies are used.

Biography

Mr. Cheng received his master degree from New York University , the Preston Robert Tish Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management. He also completed his bachelor degree in New York Institute of Technology, Hospitality Management. Currently, he is an adjunct lecturer, research assistant and doctoral candidate at Florida International University , School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and College of Business Administration .

Mr. Cheng has ample working experience in the hospitality Industry, including Sheraton Laguardia East Hotel , New York ; Crowne Plaza Manhattan Hotel , New York ; Imperial Intercontinental Hotel , Taiwan ; The D.C. Club, Taiwan , and Hotel Royal Chilpen Spa, Taiwan . He served as sales and marketing manager, restaurant manager, executive office manager, front office assistant manager, and personal assistant to the group chairman. These various working experiences will enhance the dynamic courses and lead students into the global hospitality world.

He currently engages in research on numerous topics related to hospitality organizational behavior, international hospitality business, and hospitality strategic management. He is a member of the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (C.H.R.I.E.), member of the Academy of Management , and member of the Academy of International Business .
