ALUMNI - HOSPITALITY SOCIETY
The purpose of the Society is to aid in the professional development of the graduates of the School, to encourage dialogue among the graduates, and to strengthen the tie between the graduates and the University and the School. Towards that end the School will:
Continue to publish (online) alumni news
Provide career opportunities through the School's website
Send to all current dues-paying members, the School's acclaimed biannual journal, The FIU Hospitality Review, and
Sponsor and encourage alumni receptions and events throughout the world.

Humberto "Burt" Cabañas '76 President Modesto Maidique presented the FIU Medallion at the Fall 2005 Commencement to Burt. It is given to an alumnus for significant achievement in his field and important contributions to FIU. Burt also received the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Torch Award at an Alumni Association dinner on February 11 th . |
Regynald G. Washington '74 Regynald was the recipient of The Michael E. Hurst Distinguished Hospitality Leader Award. It was presented at a gala Tribute Brunch during the South Beach Wine & Food Festival on February 26th |
The alumni are asked to:
Assist other alumni in securing executive positions in the hospitality industry
Promote the School whenever possible and appropriate
Recruit students for the School, and
Assist the School financially through personal donations or identifying individuals, corporations, and foundations that are potential donors.
